The native fauna of this province presents various sectors of distribution; species of woody zones are represented by: huemul, pudú (a little deer less than 50 cm. high), red fox, fox from Patagonia and rodents (many of them have notablely diminished).
Between birds, cauquenes, ducks, black neck swans, hummingbirds and black wood-pecker from Patagonia are species that stand out.
There are numerous batrachians and insects.
In the lakes of the group andino patagónico there are species like native trout, pejerrey from Patagonia, velvety catfish, puyén and peladilla.
In the steppe there may be guanacos, choique, mara, grey fox from Patagonia, martinetas, agachonas, cuises, tuco tucos and other rodents.
Between birds, we can find aguiluchos, falcons, country sparrow hawk, owls, plovers and others.
Coast zone stands out because there are sea wolves and elephants; their settlements have reached universal renown. There also are penguins, seagulls and other birds that find on the coast of Chubut a perfect place to establish their offspring centers.
