To know / The escutcheon

The escutcheon of Chubut dates from 1964. It shows a blue field divided in two by a golden bar. There is a representation of Florentino Ameghino Dike, a significative construction for the developement of agriculture. This activity is symbolized by an ear of wheat that crosses both fields. On the top, writen with white letters that symbolized pureness, we can read the name of the province.
Upon the external and upper part of the escutcheon there is a rising sun that symbolizes the future; its fifteen geometrical rays represent the departments of Chubut.
Two guides of laurels at each side of the escutcheon symbolize glory; they cross each other under the escutcheon, tied up with a ribbon that has the two national colours.
